At Scripturient Typewriter Co., every typewriter we restore is unique — a blend of craftsmanship, history, and honest wear. Because each machine is vintage and individually restored by hand, we want to be transparent about how returns and refunds are handled.


1. All Sales Are Final (With Care and Exceptions)

Each typewriter we sell is a one-of-a-kind, pre-owned item restored to a fully functional and tested condition. For that reason, all sales are considered final once shipped. 


However, we stand behind our work. If your typewriter arrives damaged in transit, or if it is not functioning as described, please contact us within 7 days of delivery so we can make it right.


2. Damage During Shipping

Every machine is packaged carefully to ensure it arrives safely. If damage occurs during shipment:

  • Notify us within 7 days of receipt.
  • Provide clear photos of the packaging and the machine itself.
  • Do not discard the packaging until we confirm next steps (it may be needed for carrier claims).

Once we receive the documentation, we’ll work with you to determine the best solution — which may include repair, replacement (when possible), or partial refund.


3. Functional Issues Upon Arrival

Each typewriter is tested before it leaves the shop. But these are mechanical devices, and occasionally something can shift in transit. If the machine does not operate as described, reach out immediately. We’ll help troubleshoot remotely, and if needed, arrange for a repair or adjustment.

We cannot accept returns for minor cosmetic differences, personal preference, or the normal quirks of vintage machines (e.g., slight key resistance, faint alignment variations, or light carriage sounds).


4. Shipping Costs

Return or repair shipping (if approved) will be discussed case by case. If the issue is due to carrier damage or our oversight, we’ll cover the costs.


5. No Cancellations After Shipment

Once an order has shipped, it cannot be canceled. These are limited, one-of-one restorations, and each is reserved the moment it’s purchased.
